10 Budget Friendly Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

As a mama-to-be, there are so many things I’m looking forward to and one of them includes celebrating Mother’s Day with my husband and kids. No, it’s not just for the extra amount of love, gifts, and attention that I look forward to, but rather to soak in the moment of motherhood and celebrate my journey of motherhood with my kids. It’s about the experiences I create with them on that day and every day. As my mother said: “Mother's Day is every day” and she couldn’t have said it better. When you think about it, it makes sense. We should love and treat our parents the same every day; love has no boundaries and our parents deserve more than a day's worth of love and care.

So how should I celebrate Mother's Day while treating it like a normal day? I’ve been dealing with this question most of my life! Fortunately, the answer is simple have a normal day but add a little spice. That doesn’t mean you have to break your bank. Rather, think of thoughtful ideas and the everyday activities your mom does for you and your family. How can you show love through her actions?

In this post, I’ll discuss 10 budget-friendly Mother’s Day ideas that your mother is bound to appreciate. Of course, while treating it like a normal day.

Complete Tasks Around the House

If your mom is anything like mine, she likes to make lists of things to do. Whether it be grocery shopping, event planning, or tasks around the house there’s a list somewhere. Even if you don’t know where things should go or know what to do, just ask her. Show her that you’re there to help her, remind her of your presence, and make her feel like her daily tasks/chores are valued and appreciated.

Here are some examples that you can help out with:

    1. Cleaning the bathrooms

    2. Washing and drying all the bedsheets

    3. Mop around the house

    4. Vacuum around the house

    5. Hang up pictures/signs that she’s been meaning to hang up

    6. Clean out the Fridge

Watch Her Favorite Movie with Her

Even if you don’t like it, she’ll appreciate that you watched it with her. So grab some of her favorite snacks and drinks or even watch it over a meal. Who knows, maybe you’ll come to enjoy it! It’s all about creating memories with your mother.

Participate in an Activity She loves

Remember when your mom listened to you go on and on about your favorite book, what happened at school, or the latest gossip in your friend’s group? How did you feel? Most likely, she’ll feel the same way if you take interest in things that interest her.

Take Family Photos

I don’t know a mother who doesn’t enjoy taking family photos. Whether you decide to dress up or not, your mother will appreciate this time and will look back on these photos captured. So if you have any photography friends, go ahead and ask them ahead of time to take these photos. Or if you have a nice family camera, plan ahead on how you would like these photos to be taken and if any props are needed.

Plan a Family Get Together

On the night of Christmas Eve 2020, I was able to see the true meaning of what it means to be content and happy as a mother. The answer is to just see that your family is healthy, safe, and seeing your kids altogether and conversing with one another no matter the age gap or how late it is into the night. Your mother will appreciate this get together, and you’ll be able to create everlasting memories with her too.

Cook a Nice Meal

If your mom is the daily house chef, change that up and take the initiative to cook a meal for her and the family. If you’re not a big cook, that's okay too. I’ve learned that stores tend to have pre-made breakfast items that you can easily prepare! You can easily get some premade pancake mix and make pancakes or waffles for breakfast followed by some eggs, sausage, grits, and fruit. Better yet, if there’s a favorite dish she loves, make that for her.

Garden Work

If your mom has a garden, she will appreciate all the help she can get! This is no easy task and by helping her she’ll be able to complete her yard work tasks in no time!

Box of Admiration

With the advancement of technology, almost everyone can send a text through their phones. However, not many will take the time to write handwritten letters. For this year’s Mother’s day, consider having everyone in the family write a letter to your mom. Once done, place these letters in a pretty box and give it to your mom so she can look back on these letters in the future.

Remember, Mother’s day is everyday so you don’t have to break your bank to celebrate your amazing mom. Simply, just have a normal day and add a little flair to it. Most of the time, it’s the smallest things that make the biggest impact. Seeing my mom and now as a mama to be, I understand that the greatest gift of all is to see our family safe, healthy, and happy. All we wish is for our kids to have the greatest happiness in life and for them to know that they are not alone. Cherish each day with your mother. Love her and help her as you would on a daily basis because everyday is Mother’s Day.
